Valentine’s day without Deborah. She is still in Nashville, driving for William because of his broken (mangled) ankle. Two more weeks til he can drive himself. So, James and I are home alone in our Manila apartment. I think Joey & Marie B. felt sorry for us, so they invited us to their home for Valentine’s dinner.
About the time I was working up a good pity party for myself, I read Joe & Marily’s Valentine blog. (If you have seen our Every Nation Bldg. in the Philippines, Joe is the man who turned that dream into reality. If not for Joe, we would still be dreaming, or we would have built a Christian nipa hut.) Here is an excerpt from Marily’s Valentine’s day blog.
Throughout our marriage, Joe has always thoughtfully and regularly sent me red roses and a carefully picked and beautiful card and taken me out for a romantic dinner for two on Valentines Day. Today we are celebrating it without the traditional frills. We are in fact going to be at Stanford to have his portable chemo pump which is attached to his picc line, removed tonight – so goodbye dinner for two.
But we have started the day with a prayer of thanksgiving for having Someone who will be with us during this very challenging time of our life, and for having one another! Thank you Lord for a wonderful husband who is fully committed to You and to the plans You have for him, plans for good and not for evil; plans that have given him hope and a future! (Jer 29:)
