I spoke to Mom this morning. She is still in the ICU. It was sad to hear her voice sounding so weak. She was obviously in much pain. We are flying to the USA tomorrow morning. The doctor does not expect her to recover. She has lived a good and long life. Hebrews 9:27,28 says that we are “destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people . . .” We all have a standing appointment with eternity and the eternal God. Some are ready. Some are not. If this is her time, we are at peace, and so is she.
Mom was the first person I ever met who claimed to have had a personal encounter with Jesus. I’ll never forget the day. I was about twelve. She called all five kids to the den. As warm tears poured from her eyes, she told us that she had received Jesus into her life. My thought at the time was, “oh no, my Mom has become a religious fanatic.” In a few years I became one too.
