On Tuesday, January 27, our church family lost a good man.

And I lost a faithful friend.

Joe Orosa was a pillar in our church—a mentor to many young and not-so-young businessmen and women. He was a living example of integrity, excellence, and hard work in the marketplace. Victory business people will miss him.

Joe was part of our leadership team—coaching many of our pastors about the business side of ministry. He was a master negotiator, a wise financial analyst, and a patient mentor. Our pastors and staff will miss him.

Joe was also a friend—or maybe more like a big brother—to many of us. He was the kind of friend I could always count on to graciously and respectfully speak the truth in love—even when I didn’t want to hear it. I will miss his wise counsel.

Joe had a quiet compassion for the poor. As the chairman of the Real Life Foundation, Joe helped many families out of the brutal cycle of poverty by providing scholarships and job opportunities for the needy. The Real Life board, staff, and scholars will miss his leadership.

After a two-year battle with cancer, Joe is now absent from the body and at home with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8) enjoying that place that Jesus prepared for him (John 14:2,3).

He fought a good fight of faith, he finished his race, and he left a legacy of service, integrity, and faith that we would all do well to imitate.

We will miss him, but we will see him again.
