I met a fascinating man in South Africa last week. I had visited his website several times. I never order stuff online, but I couldn’t resist this one, so I ordered his DVD and watched it with my family just before flying from Manila to the States last month.
Nick is a twenty-three year old Aussie man with an amazing story, a unique sense of humor and a worldwide audience. I first heard about Nick when a Singaporean friend sent me an email saying that when she thinks she has had a tough day, she goes to Nick’s website and realizes that her life is not so difficult. When I read about Nick on his website and watched his DVD, I thought about inviting him to Manila to minister on the high school and university campuses.
Last week during our ENLI summit lunch break, I walked out of the board meeting at the Cape Town guesthouse and thought I saw Nick sitting by the pool. On the website and video he was clean shaven. This guy by the pool had a beard. But there was no mistake about it, this was the same Nick I saw on the website and on the DVD. As soon as I introduced myself, he leaned toward me and said “give me a hug.” I did. We talked about reaching youth. I was so impressed with his love for the Lord and his passion for youth that I invited him to minister in Manila.
He was on a three-nation African speaking tour and was in the process of moving from Australia to Southern California. I hope to get Nick to Manila sometime in 2007.
