While I am on the birthday theme, here are birthday blogs for my youngest son and my youngest brother, who celebrated their 16th and 40th birthdays on February 27th and March 1st. While walking with Deborah this morning (exercise for her, fellowship for me), I was thinking about Jonathan’s unique birthday gifts and how different his interests are at sixteen than mine were at that age.

His gifts included “The Little Book that Beats the Market” and “Real Money” (by that Mad Money guy who can’t decide if he wants to be a wrestling announcer or a Wall Street analyst). All I did at sixteen was spend Dad’s money, while Jonathan is investing his own hard-earned money. Other birthday books included huge full-color art books, “Winslow Homer” and “American Impressionists” that Jonathan will use for ideas for his next painting projects. (By the way, he sold four paintings while here in Nashville.)

I can’t imagine what I would have done with art or investment books at sixteen. My Dad would be so proud of him. I am too. Also, David, your gift is being shipped today. Better late than never.
