After 23 years in Manila, Deborah and I voted for the first time last night. In fact we voted five times, for the same person. Here’s what happened. We caught the last five minutes of Philippine Idol Saturday night and Drae—one of our worship team members—happened to be singing last in the big final 12 showdown. We were so impressed we just had to vote—all five votes for Drae.

Just as he has done the past few Sundays, Drae brought several friends and fellow Philippine Idol contestants to our 11:00 a.m. service. As usual, they came up for prayer after the service. After the Fort services, I proceeded to the Alabang 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. services. Juray preached another classic.

It is now 10:15 p.m. Sunday night, and I’m bummed. Just watched my first and last episode of Philippine Idol. Drae is out. Are those voters deaf or something? Did they hear the same song I heard? What’s wrong with those Idol watchers?

Great run for Drae. It will be good to have him back on the worship team whenever the Idol contract permits.
