Cowboy hats. Ostrich boots. Big hair. Thick makeup. Massive belt buckles. Tight Wrangler jeans. Thick southern twangs. Sappy songs about faithful dogs and unfaithful husbands. The 40th annual Country Music Association Awards is in town and on TV tonight. Even though we have lots of packing to do before heading back to Manila, we couldn’t resist tuning in to the extravaganza. It’s all happening at the Gaylord Center, across the street from the Global Café, where my sons attend church every Sunday they’re in Nashville. Watching these CMA awards is tempting me to download some Johnny Cash classics from iTunes. I might even dig my old cowboy boots out of storage. On second thought, my New Balances are pretty comfortable.
