Check out the new cover of what used to be our Biblical Foundations Bible study book on Zondervan’s website. Same format, same topics. New title, new cover. The plan is to distribute a million copies in the next few years at Newsboys concerts. Pray with us that millions of young people will fall in love with the Word of God as they do The Purple Book.

For those who are wondering why it is now called The Purple Book, read the following carefully: because it is purple. That’s right. No other reason.

The real interesting story is why it is purple in the first place. Here’s what happened.

The artwork on the original 1998 cover had architectural drawings and blueprint designs, so the color was supposed to be the same blue as blueprints. When the first 5000 were delivered to our Manila office, the color was purple, not blue. Printer mistake.

Rather than trashing them, we accepted them at a huge discounted price. I’m not sure why we didn’t change it to the right color on subsequent orders, but seven years and twelve languages later, it is now officially The Purple Book. I guess if the original printer had not messed up, it would now be called The Blue Book.
